Question 1

How much do custom blinds, shades, and shutters cost in Jackson Hole?

Accepted Answer

Custom window treatments typically range from under $100 to over $1,000 per window. The price depends on the product, window size, material, operating system, motorization, and number of windows, so an exact quote requires measuring the actual windows. That's why Made in the Shade Jackson Hole includes a free in-home consultation — Mike brings the mobile showroom to you, measures every window, shows samples in your home's real light, and tailors the quote to your project.

Question 2

What window treatments are best for the cold Teton winters?

Accepted Answer

Honeycomb (cellular) shades are the top choice for insulation — their honeycomb cells trap air at the glass to hold heat in through the long, cold winters, lowering your heating bills. Plantation shutters add a second insulating layer, and cellular shades are a favorite with our Jackson Hole clients. The U.S. Department of Energy estimates cellular shades can reduce window heat loss significantly, which matters at Teton elevations.

Question 3

Are you locally owned?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Made in the Shade Jackson Hole is a local, family-owned business owned and operated by Mike and Sally Brin, who have lived in Jackson since 2003 and owned the business since 2018. Mike personally handles the consultation and installs the work himself, so you work directly with the owner, not a call center. They're local, but also part of a large, trusted brand — so you get family-business care with national buying power and top brands.

Question 4

Do your shades protect against high-altitude UV and sun fading?

Accepted Answer

Yes. At Teton elevations the UV is intense, and it fades floors, rugs, and furniture fast — especially on big mountain-view windows. Solar shades block the sun's heat and up to 99% of UV while preserving your view, and roller shades (our top pick) go smart with motorization. They protect your interiors and your investment while keeping your Teton view.

Question 5

Can my shades work with Alexa and smart home systems?

Accepted Answer

Yes — 'Alexa, raise my shades!' is a reality. Our motorized shades work with all major smart-home systems, including Alexa, so you can raise and lower even the tallest mountain-view windows by voice, app, or schedule. It's ideal for the large, hard-to-reach windows of Jackson Hole homes.

Question 6

What areas do you serve?

Accepted Answer

Made in the Shade Jackson Hole serves Teton County, Lincoln County, Wilson, Teton Village, Alta, Alpine, and Star Valley in Wyoming, plus Bonneville and Teton County, Victor, Driggs, Idaho Falls, Felt, and Swan Valley in Idaho. The mobile showroom comes to you. Call (307) 690-9481 to confirm we cover your area — we'll bring the showroom to you.
